The Nvidia Shield K1 Tablet is getting Android Nougat

If you own an Nvidia Shield tablet and were wondering whether or not you would be getting the Android 7.0 Nougat update, then you don't need to wait any longer as the update is now rolling out. This update was up in the air for the Shield tablet as the hardware initially released back in 2014 but it seems that Nvidia is intent on supporting its tablet owners with new updates for 2017.

The Nvidia Shield Tablet originally released back in 2014 but was ‘re-released' in December 2015 alongside the Android Marshmallow update.

Android Nougat comes as part of the Shield's 5.0 software update, which adds support for new peripherals such as the new Shield Remote, which was revealed alongside the new Shield TV. Obviously, the standard Nougat features will also be implemented, including app multitasking, Doze mode and more.

KitGuru Says: One of Android Nougat's big improvements is standby battery life, which would benefit the Shield tablet greatly. Do any of you still own a Shield tablet? Will you be installing the Nougat update?

    I’m updating mine now. If I remember I’ll post an update a bit later. I mainly use it as a Kindle and for android games like Fallout Shelter, Final Fantasy RuneKeeper and Star Trek: Timelines. Only Nvidia stuff I use is Dabbler. I guess I’d use it more if I had an Nvidia card to pair it with.
